Dear Educator, The McDonald Observatory Visitors Center is proud to host your upcoming Texas Connection: McDonald Observatory and the Texas Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching Professional Development Workshop. I hope our web site provides the information you need to pack accordingly, and leave contact names and phone numbers for your family. If you have any concerns or questions after reviewing the workshop information, please don't hesitate to call or email me directly. See links on the sidebar to the left for pages detailing:
You will be staying at the Indian Lodge facility, located within the Davis Mountains State Park, near Fort Davis, TX. To reach the Indian Lodge from Fort Davis, travel 3 miles along Hwy 118N; the entrance will be to your left. Hotel check-in will take place at the beginning of your workshop at McDonald Observatory. Please do not attempt to check in at the Indian Lodge before your workshop begins. See the Workshop Information document, the Indian Lodge map, and the Indian Lodge weblink to learn more about your accommodations. Our workshop begins promptly at 3:00 P.M. in the Visitors Center classroom. If for any reason you cannot arrive on time, please call 432-426-4102 option 4 and let us know. If you arrive late, the information desk attendant will direct you to the classroom. We do not plan to serve lunch on the first day, so plan to eat before your workshop begins. The StarDate Café is located inside the McDonald Observatory Visitors Center, and there are restaurants in Fort Davis as well. We are excited to offer this one-of-a-kind opportunity to explore, discover, make new friends, and experience the fascinating field of astronomy. I'll see you soon! Clear Skies! Marc Wetzel |
